The Necessities

Believe it or not, we are headed to Houston in less than two weeks. It hardly seems real to me. Finding a place to live for such a short time wasn't easy, but we did find a place and I think it will be just fine. The clincher on choosing the apartment we did was that it has a washer/dryer in the unit as opposed to just having hook-ups. We'll be renting furniture to make things even easier. Now I just need to figure out what all the necessities are and get them packed. I just don't want to get down there and have to buy a whole bunch of stuff because I didn't think to pack it. I know I need bedding, towels, pots and pans, bath mats, TV, DVD player, clothes, toiletries, waste baskets, computer, dishes. What am I missing? What would you add to the list?

We did this for one of our moves and it was really nice, but I wasn't as smart as you and I didn't think things through as much as I think you are. Then again, you are amazing. I was surprised at how little I really did need in the kitchen. Remember a can opener. Random, I know.

Jessica, I hadn't thought of a can opener! Thanks!

Brooke, where have you been? Just kidding. We are going for a summer internship with ExxonMobil.

Jen, you know I am planning on books already. Just didn't list them. I think I'll reread Harry Potter this summer. Good plan, don't you think?

Vacuum? Other cleaning supplies (toilet scrubber, etc). Crock Pot, Blender, anything left in the kitchen.
Good Luck on the move.

pot holders and knives. Surprisingly, here in Germany they didn't provide any and I'm going crazy without them. Did you say whether or not it's furnished? Like with tables and stuff? hangers, hangers, hangers. That was another thing we forgot. Ugh! And pillows. So excited for you guys.

Chocolate. And water because I heard it's pretty hot down there. Hope that helps!

Clark and Rebecca Cooper spent a week in Texas a while ago and were blown away with what they could get for less money than they pay here, seems like you will have a nice set up with the washer/dryer in unit. For the move you could maybe jot down the things you use each day for a week as you go through each day, I bet some things you can live without like the crock-pot if its just for a few months. can't wait to see what Texas is like!

Kitchen spices;salt, garlic, the ones you use everyday. And sunscreen, but I'm sure you've already thought of that.

Hey Rachel,

thanx for your support. We are going to try to make it tomadeleine's ballet recital tomorrow night. I'm trying to pull off being super-woman this weekend so we should be there. I will let you know for sure.

SPICES!! I know, I'm hoping we didn't forget anything essential. We still don't have a place in LA, but we're sure it'll all work out.
